At The Fiction Desk we take your right to privacy seriously. On this page, we’ve laid out exactly what we do – and what we don’t do – with the information we gather about you.
For your security, all of our credit card transactions are handled by PayPal. We do not store credit card details, nor do we share customer details with any third parties.
2. Subscriber information
We maintain two subscriber lists:
We have a list of subscribers to our anthology series. We use this to send out your books, and to send out renewal reminders when your subscription expires.
We have a list of subscribers to our email newsletter, which we use to send out the newsletter.
We don't use either list for any other purpose, and we don't sell your data to anybody else. So you can subscribe to our newsletter or purchase from us safely, and you won't receive spam or junk mail from "companies that may be of interest to you".
If you wish to be removed from either list, just email us (in the case of our newsletter, you can also click the 'unsubscribe' link in any email).
When stories are submitted to The Fiction Desk, our submissions form converts the information into a simple email which reaches us with the story attached; effectively, each submission is treated as a separate piece of email correspondence. We do not maintain any database of submissions or work submitted, and we do not share your submissions with any other party.
4. Our statistics
Like most websites, thefictiondesk.com uses software to enable us to gather certain information about our website users. This information tells us which countries our viewers come from, and what sort of browser and computer system they use. It also tells us where on the internet they came from, e.g. from a Google search, so that we can (for example) see how well one of our advertising campaigns is doing, or which pages on our site people most often visit.
We use the information collected simply to see how many people are looking at our site, which pages are popular, which countries our users from, and how people are discovering our website.
