Submissions Information
We're always looking for new short stories for the Fiction Desk anthologies, and we run three seasonal submission calls a year.
Our summer submissions call is open now, with a deadline of Wednesday, 30th September.
Here’s what’s happening at The Fiction Desk this summer:
- Our general submission call. The general call is for stories on any of the themes and genres featured in Fiction Desk anthologies.
- We also read submissions for our partner publishers Uncertain Stories. Uncertain Stories publishes fiction set more-or-less here, more-or-less now, with a supernatural or speculative edge. The first two Uncertain Stories anthologies are out now, so grab yourself an anthology (or two), and then see the Uncertain Stories submission call here.
(Please don’t worry if you aren’t sure which of the above calls best suits your work. We read submissions with all open calls in mind.)
To submit your stories:
- Take a look at one of our anthologies to see whether we would be a good fit for your work. (While you're waiting for the publication of the new Fiction Desk anthology, you might want to check out a volume from Uncertain Stories — see above.)
- Read our short story submission guidelines.
- Send us your story through our short story submission form.
